Dear CI Community,
We are excited to announce the first cohort of Compassionate Inquiry in Education (CIE), an initiative that brings the principles of Compassionate Inquiry® into classrooms and child-serving environments.
As practitioners, we recognize that children’s behaviors are often expressions of unmet needs shaped by their lived experiences. Educators increasingly recognize that creating environments of safety, trust, and belonging is essential for improving student attendance, academic outcomes, and behavior, while preparing students to navigate the world beyond school.
What is Compassionate Inquiry in Education (CIE)?
CIE integrates Compassionate Inquiry with SAMHSA’s trauma-informed care model to support professionals in creating safe, responsive, and compassionate environments for children and youth.

Selected participants will be invited to an orientation session, after which the program will officially begin.
Call for Interns
We are also inviting applications for two internship positions within the CIE program.
Participants in the program facilitate a structured, student-facing curriculum designed to increase safety, trust, belonging, and response flexibility within classrooms. Interns will be expected to actively facilitate this student curriculum as part of their learning experience. We believe that future facilitators benefit most from direct, hands-on implementation experience, ensuring your training is grounded in both theory and practical reflection.
Eligibility Criteria for Interns:
- Currently working with or having access to a group of children or youth.
- Ability to facilitate weekly student sessions during the Action Phase.
- Willingness to participate in workshops, implementation activities, and bi-weekly support sessions.
- Interest in trauma-informed education, Compassionate Inquiry, and experiential learning.
- Commitment to reflective practice, collaboration, and professional growth.
Interns will receive mentorship, implementation support, and experiential learning opportunities throughout the program.
